Children painting banners for Rio conference

Date: 26.04.2012
Place: Children Resource Centre, CK Palli

As soon as the Collective received the banners from TdH, we conducted a team meeting to plan for the Banner Painting event. This was then discussed in the children's forum conducted thereafter. Children from 8 Balala Sanghas (Groups) showed interest and finalised a date for the painting event.

Thrity-one children from 8 sanghas of 8 villages in Ramagiri and C.K. Palli Mandals gathered in Children Resource Centre at Chennekothapalli by 9 AM of 26th April 2012 for the Banner painting event. The programme coordinator gave them a brief introduction on the ecological rights of children. He also explained about the Banner painting for the Rio conference.

Children with great enthusiasm drew 10 paintings, relating themselves with the ecology. They then selected 6 out of 10 for painting on the banners. From the afternoon, they got into 6 sub-groups and painted the selected drawings on banners.

Finally, they wrote captions for their banners in Telugu, which was then translated by the coordinator for them to write on the banner in English.

The following is the list of villages and names of children groups from these villages.

1. Namala – Gandhiji Balala Sangham
2. Haryancheruvu – Jabilli Balala Sangham
3. Chinnappalli – Ramachilakka Balala Sangham
4. Nyamaddala – Chirujallu Balala Sangham
